Hello Everyone! Today I am writing a post that I have been meaning to do for a while. I listen to a lot of music everyday, and I would really like to tell you about some of my favourite musicians. Let me know on Twitter (@sunnylikejuly) who you are listening to at the moment, because I am always looking for new things to listen to.
My favourite band at the moment is "Daughter." They have a really cool electric/acoustic sound, and the lead singer has the most amazing female folk voice! I love their music but it's quite heavy and edgy. I really like their originality and just everything about them. Their songs deal with quite deep themes, especially "Candles" and "Smother," and none of their songs are particularly happy, but their fantastic nonetheless.
My next favourite is of course the wonderful Taylor Swift, I bought her album yesterday and haven't listened to all the songs yet, but I love ''Blank Space," "Style," "Wildest Dreams," and "Bad Blood." In my opinion this is the best music that Taylor has ever released, I am in love with 1989!!
For some reason I listen to a lot more female singers than male ones, I don't know why, but George Ezra breaks that habit of mine. I love George Ezra, I know he's been famous for a while but I just never really bothered to listen to him - until now. My favourite songs of his are "Blame It on Me" and ""Listen To The Man."
My next two are singers who post videos of themselves on YouTube covering songs. I personally love listening to these two because they both plan on releasing original music. They both put a different spin on the songs they cover as well, so I don't see them as just cover artists. The one I am listening to right now, as I write this post is Sarah Close, she is unreal, she mostly accompanies herself with piano, and I can imagine her releasing an amazing album in the future. I especially love her Taylor Swift covers of ''Wildest Dreams'' and ''Bad Blood,'' and Hozier's ''Take Me To Church.'' Go check her out!!
I am also loving Lilly Ahlberg, she is the second YouTuber I listen to. Her voice is really different and folky, and she covers a load of songs that I really like. She has already released her own single called ''Fade,'' which is really good. I especially love her covers of ''Chocolate'' by the 1975, ''Shiver'' by Lucy Rose, ''Thinking Out Loud'' by Ed Sheeran. She also has amazing style and hair and everything!
A singer/songwriter I have been loving for a while is Lucy Rose. I listen to her album ''Like I Used To,'' as chill-out music when I potter around my room tidying and while I paint. It's so nice and gentle. All her songs are so good, it's hard to chose a favourite. I like ''Shiver,'' ''First,'' ''Place,'' and ''Watch Over.'' However there are no weak songs on the album, they are all pretty much as good as each other.
The last musician that I will mention (and I know it's been a very long post!) is James Bay. He is an acoustic folk-pop singer with a really gritty voice and I think he may be my favourite singer at the moment! I love his songs so much, especially "Hold Back The River," "Let It Go," "Clocks Go Forward," and "When We Were On Fire." I have a feeling James Bay is going to be HUGE..
That is a round-up of all the music I have been listening to recently, hope you enjoyed and check some of these artists out! My social media links are below, I'd love if you followed. Thanks for reading and I will be back very soon with a new post!
