So I have been thinking a lot about my readership lately. I am a tiny tiny blogger, 19 Bloglovin' followers isn't really anything to boast about. But I notice so many bloggers do this thing where they follow thousands of other blogs just for a follow back. This is increasingly happening to me, I am getting more new followers than usual, and it always disappoints me when I go into my new follower's page to see that I am just one of 4000 blogs they follow. At the moment most of my followers are like that, they don't care about my content they just want me to follow them back. Honestly, I would rather have 20 genuine readers who actually read and engage with my blog, than 1000 followers who are just in it for a follow back. I think it's way better to slowly build up a real following, that's what I am trying to do anyway! When will people start focussing on the content and not the amount of followers!? Rant over now, it is just something that really bothers me and I was just wondering if anyone experiences the same thing?
That being said, I think being a very small blogger is really hard. It's hard when you see really successful bloggers who have this massive following, and you just wonder how they got to where they are! But what I think is way harder is seeing the thousands of small bloggers like me trying to get up there. It really makes me question my originality, and if I maybe started blogging too late because everyone and their dog now write blogs. It's also so hard when you come across people who have been blogging daily for years and only have a couple of followers, it makes me feel unmotivated. If I get one new follower in a week that is great going, but it's just hard thinking "What if my blog will never expand?"
Which kind of brings me onto my next point. Blogger's Block. If you are a blogger, you know perfectly well what I am talking about. Some days, I wake up and I have a hundred blogpost ideas, other days I wake up and I can't think of anything. Back in October it got so bad that I just took a month off because I couldn't think of anything to write about. Blogger's Block is the worst thing ever, but I am starting to keep a book of blogpost ideas for the days where creativity is not to be found anywhere.
The last thing I wanted to talk about was my new blogging plan. I feel like, for this blog to grow, I need to post more than once a week. I am going to try and post twice weekly starting from next week. I am actually in awe of the people who blog once, or even twice daily. What is their secret?
What about you? Are you a blogger? Do you have the same difficulties, or maybe you have different ones? I'd love to know, leave a comment, or you can tweet me @sunnylikejuly (links to social media above.) And if you have any solutions or advice that would be fabulous. Thank you so much for reading and I will see you in my next post!
Hey Clio! I am one of those people (who follows like 3000 people), but I do it because I genuinely read all of the blogs that I follow (not all of them post that frequently). I completely agree on the fact that its not about how many followers you have, but how many people read it. Whether its one or one thousand, there's something special about knowing someone is out there listening you know? Can't wait to read more of your posts! xo nomoneywilltravel.com
